My CNA Class

In 6 days I’m starting a CNA class at Parkland. I will be in class from 9-3:50 Tuesday-Thursday. I will try my best to put down what I learn and observe at this class, not only for your enjoyment, but for my posterity.

What I’ve done for the class so far: 1. Bought my books. I went on Amazon.com and Half.com and bought Mosby’s Nursing Assistant Textbook and Workbook. 2. Read my assigned chapters. The teacher sent out an e-mail a few weeks ago telling us (the students) what was expected of them, pretty much. 3. Bought a pair of whitetennis shoes. I hate white tennis shoes. They are probably two of the ugliest things in existence. 4. Had a two-step TB skin test.  I went to the doctor 4 times. The 1st time, the nurse put a liquid under the skin on my forearm and made a little bubble. It stayed there for a few minutes and then receded. Two days later I went the 2nd time, and all the nurse did this time was run her finger over where the bump had been, and told me it looked fine. No TB. But wait! there’s more.  A week later I had to go in and have the same thing be done again. Just in case they missed something. This time… no TB. 5. I took the bus to Parkland last Thursday to see what time I left, what time I arrived… etc. Thankfully I arrived in time to get to what will be my classroom by just about nine. I would have been there more on time, but the grey bus goes everywhere except in a straight line. Seriously. We were on Bradley, and five minutes of driving would have brought us to the Parkland entrance, but no. We had to take another twenty minutes to get there through all sorts of streets I didn’t even know exsisted.

I’ve probably done more, but I’m too tired to think of it all at the moment. Anyway, I’ll probably find more to write about in the next few days.

 Cheerio.
